Mercedes Schlapp's role in the role of White House Strategic Communications Advisor isn't easy. As White House's strategic communications advisor, Schlapp has to face a variety of challenges. Schlapp has remained focussed and focused, working in conjunction with White House teams in political issues, legislative affairs and policy and the overall communications staff. It hasn't been a pleasant fight. The allies of Schlapp and Tony Sayegh have begun to fight with the media. Schlapp said that after she learned that the Washington Examiner had published an article that had negative reviews of Sayegh's persona, she phoned Sayegh to have a private discussion.
