Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter for WPDE-TV. In the following years, she worked as a morning news anchor and crime reporter at WCBD-TV. Her articles from Charleston on how Charleston police handled DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger direction for state officials. The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell by awarding her the Best Report of the Years Award across all South Carolina Media. Her work in Charleston has led to her serving as a co-anchor, reporter and NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to becoming a part of Access Hollywood she was a co-anchor on weekdays as well as the weekend anchor for NBC. Alongside her work as a lead anchor on Access Hollywood Ms. O'Dell also contributes to NBC News' Today and in addition for Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. Alongside co-hosting the Pre-ShowArrivals for The Emmys & The Golden Globes.
